Our Story

Music in the mountains — where Safed's creative spirit meets the stage.

Tzfat Music venue exterior

Born in the Old City

Tzfat Music opened its doors in 2011 with a simple idea: Safed — a city of artists, mystics, and musicians — deserved a dedicated live music venue worthy of its creative soul.

What started as Friday-night folk sessions in a converted stone cellar has grown into one of northern Israel's most respected intimate venues, hosting over 200 artists across jazz, folk, world music, and acoustic sets.

Our 120-seat room on Alkabetz Street sits steps from the artists' quarter. The stone walls, low ceilings, and warm lighting create an atmosphere where every note resonates.

What We Believe

Live music is a shared experience — not a background soundtrack.

Curated

Quality Over Quantity

Every act is hand-selected. We book artists we'd want to see ourselves — no filler, no open-mic chaos.

Intimate

Close to the Music

No barrier between artist and audience. You can hear fingers on strings and breath between phrases.

Local

Rooted in Tzfat

We champion Galilee musicians alongside touring acts, keeping Safed's artistic tradition alive.

The Space

Our venue occupies a restored 19th-century stone building in the Old City. The main hall features a raised stage, professional sound system, and ambient lighting designed for acoustic and amplified performances.

A full bar serves local Galilee wines, craft beers, and signature cocktails. Doors open one hour before each show — arrive early, find your seat, and settle in.
